Among the exhibitors at SURGE this week will be Girls in Tech India, a group that provides expertise & encourages more women to get involved in technology. The Girls in Tech team will bring over 200 Women in Tech, 50 female mentors and 25 female startup founders to SURGE, as well as some intriguing featured guests who join at their stand.
This partnership is both exciting and timely for SURGE, as we continue to work towards our commitment to changing the gender ratio at our events, and tech events in general. Hopefully this can be a tiny step in the right direction along a path that the tech industry as a whole needs to move down.
Some of the names joining at the stand include
Radhesh Kanumury – Country Led, IBM Global Entrepreneur Program
Sanjay Enishetty – 50k Ventures
Ayyappa Nagubandi – Columnist, The Hindu
Also running throughout the two days of SURGE will be Girls in Tech’s collaboration with Edutel Technologies. The aim is to provide computer literacy to girls’ schools in rural areas. Keep an eye out for the demos, and make sure you drop by to say hello.
You will find many of the Girls in Tech team on the SURGE app – download it here and chat with them ahead of the conference on Tuesday.
